FENCE ZONING PERMIT APPLICATION
Although no permit is required for installing up to a 6ft High in the back and up to a 4ft High fence in the front of the house, it is best to call the Zoning Office and ask speak with the Zoning Official. 1. If you already have an up-to-date property survey, it may have enough detail to locate your property corners, where you may find or can place stakes. This will help you discern your property lines.
2. If you do not have current valid property survey, you will have to hire a Land Surveying Company to create one and that will usually require your property deed.

Wait for the site to be marked with paint, flags or stakes. Yellow indicates the presence of underground natural gas lines.
Respect the marks and dig with care.
Hand dig within two feet of buried piping and facilities.
Be mindful that inclement weather may wash away the painted markings.
East Orange, New Jersey, nicknamed “The Crossroads of New Jersey,” is conveniently located at the intersection of the Garden State Parkway and Interstate 280, just several miles from Newark Liberty International Airport and less than 30 minutes from New York City. With approximately 65,000 residents, the four square miles of East Orange are adjacent to the municipalities of Orange, West Orange, South Orange, Montclair, Glen Ridge, Bloomfield and Newark. Originally founded as a township in 1863, East Orange became incorporated as a city on January 1, 1909. By the close of the 19th century, East Orange was an agriculturally rich area populated by oil tycoons and Newark industrialists. After World War II, it became a growing destination for the migration of black middle class from the South, as well as southern parts of the state.
